Need advice. I'm trying to gently wean my almost 3-yr old. We were down to 4x/ day (wake up, before/after nap, bedtime). I stopped the after nap feeding first. He was upset for 4 days but then seemed to accept it. I allowed us to get used to the adjustment for a few weeks before trying to drop the next one. Next I dropped before nap. He is not having it. Every day for over two weeks now he has cried like he's heartbroken about it, and it's getting worse instead of better. Now he's asking for it again after nap. I don't just leave him at nap time- I lay with him and let him "hold" my nipple with his hand because I think it's a security thing for him. He eventually gives up and accepts it but not without a fight. Really, all the feedings are comfort feedings. I have very little supply left. Any suggestions? I really don't want to stop nursing cold-turkey, but am I making it more confusing by dropping one at a time? I feel like he's old enough to understand, and we've talked about it and how he is growing up and can wait until bedtime. Thanks in advance.
